Many concepts and words don't make sense until we experience them for ourselves. One day, we received a call from an excited friend who asked, "Have you seen the bioluminescence?" I honestly don't remember my exact response, but I'm sure it was something like, "The what???" I hadn't a clue what my friend was talking about, but got enough encouragement to at least agree that on our next free evening--it had to be dark, our family would venture out to the causeway between Anna Maria Island and the mainland to see what this phenomenon could possibly be. Well that night came soon, and as we swished our hands and feet in the shallow waters along the shore, it was better than Disney. Any kind of movement created turquoise and lime green light. Shrieks of joy were heard up and down the beach as we strangers were united in a possibly once in a lifetime experience only shared by few. Bioluminescence invites us to live an uncommon life...seize the moment...and to go to the beach at night in search of illumination.
